The local currency is Turkish Lira although nearly everywhere accepts Pounds Sterling and Euros. Main tourist areas accept credit cards in the larger stores but credit card facilities are still not available in many of the more rural areas. There are cash machines giving out Turkish Lira again predominantly in the main towns. The Turkish Cypriot people work to a very strict conversion rate that is printed in the local newspaper and so you can rest assured that you will not be overcharged on any currency exchange.
